1. 연방 정부(Federal)
연방에서는 Where's My Refund 이라는 IRS의 사이트에서 확인 할 수 있다.

위 사이트에 접속하여
"Check you refund"을 클릭하면 아래와 같은 개인정보 확인을 하게 된다.
위의 정보는 세금보고서 정보를 그대로 입력하면 된다.
- Social Security Number: 본인의 SSN
- Tax year: 본인이 확인하고자 하는 세금보고 년도를 선택한다.
- Filing Status: 본인이 신고한 status 를 선택한다. 헷갈린다면 세금보고서에도 Filing status 가 나와있으니 참고하면 된다.
- Refund Amount: 본인이 세금보고서에서 최종적으로 계산된 Refund 금액을 입력한다.
Federal 의 Refund 금액만 입력해야 하며 State는 상관 없다.
위의 정보를 정확히 입력 후 Submit 하면 아래와 같이 내 세금보고서의 처리가 어느정도 되었는지 확인 할 수 있다.
- Return Received: 세금보고서가 IRS 에 잘 접수되었다는 의미이다.
- Refund Approved: 세금보고서를 기반으로 환급금 지불 절차가 진행중이라는 의미이다. 위 단계라면 4~6주 정도 안에 환급금이 발송 될 것이다.
- Refund Sent: Refund 금액이 이미 발송되었다는 의미이다.
주 정부(State)
주 정부도 대부분 Refund 상태를 체크할 수 있도록 하고 있다.
